I'm running Edgy with the latest upgrades installed. I just added an old nVidia geForce 5200 fx PCI w/ dual vga and setup for xinerama without twinview.

Please take this report with a grain of salt...

I installed the legacy nvidia drivers, not the normal package. Once I changed to the normal package everything was fine.

Sorry to waste your time.

I can confirm this bug. I'm also running xinerama and the binary nvidia drivers. Running glxinfo through gdb produces the following output:

(gdb) run

I couldn't find a -dbgsym package for mesa-utils but can try again if someone can point me to the appropriate package for Feisty (mesa-utils 6.3.2-2.1)

I've attached an strace, which might be more useful.

I'll close this bug, since it seems that the culprit is the nvidia-legacy driver, and fixed in a newer one.
