Bug Description

Binary package hint: wine

source package: wine
new version: 0.9.23

Reason: wine 0.9.23 will fix some more x86_64 bit issues and will fix some more MSI bugs. More to read in the changelog of upstream.

We are close to release, but we should include wine 0.9.23 in edgy.
Hopefully it will fix ubuntu #66538.

I'm undecided. I'm all for bugfixes, sure. but wine is always a quite tricky thing. Stephan: How do you think about getting this version to feisty first, and then to edgy-backports short after it hits feisty? this way, user can choose which version they want to use.

That is something I would prefer at this stage of development.
the mentioned bug inside this UVF report, I couldn't reproduce but the
reporter said that he doesn't have this with 0.9.23 from winehq.

Anyways, for me I would prefer to wait for feisty.

I think that is better to packaging and backport 0.9.24 released on 29 october (there are already Edgy ready packages in the upstream site deb http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt edgy main):

    * Support for multiple monitors using Xinerama.
    * Various MSI fixes and improvements.
    * A ton of memory leaks fixed.
    * Many common controls fixes.
    * Lots of bug fixes.
