Bug Description

connecting to a windows 2003 machine, the screen redraws take almost a second! So for example, when I first connect it's a black screen, then the windows blue background is drawn and you can watch it appear. Reconnect in full-screen mode and redraws are invisibly fast.

I've tried with various resolutions, colour depths, and all the other bells and whistles on and off.

This is with edgy rdesktop 1.4.1 on a Sony Vaio with an ATI M24 1P [Radeon Mobility X600] running at 1920x1200 with the free software Xorg driver.

I had a similar problem, and compiling 1.5.0 from source solved it for me.

The fullscreen mode is now slow too. Don't know what changed.

I compiled 1.5.0 from source as suggested by Ben Maurer and it's fixed the problem for both windowed and full screen.

I've run into the same problem. I'm running Kubuntu Edgy with the ATI drivers (Radeon 7000).

I did a google search and found a similar problem mentioned on a Fedora forum:
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=135181
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=213502

Following the instructions there, I appended the following environment variable to the command (running the package rdesktop 1.4.1):
$ XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 rdesktop ...

The problem went away. This same fix is also used for a transparency issue with compiz (not an issue for me).

I would suppose the fix probably involves something with the "XLIB ARGB VISUALS".

Feisty includes rdesktop 1.5 and the problem is fixed there. I guess this means this can be closed.
