Bug Description

When shutting down or rebooting from inside KDE, the system locks up before the Kubuntu splash screen appears. I have tried to establish a pattern, and my results were as follows (can't guarantee them 100%):

1) This occurs when I select shutdown or reboot from the KDE K-Menu, but not if I end the session and select shutdown or reboot from the login manager.

2) If I disable the splash screen, this does not occur at all.

3) This occurs with all 2.6.17 Ubuntu kernels I currently have on my system (2.6.17.6-K7 to current).

Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.

For me it works with following explicit commands in /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc:
in section [ShutDown]:
HaltCmd=/sbin/halt
..
RebootCmd=/sbin/reboot

I don't recall seeing this problem recently, except (I think) after kernel upgrades, where the shutdown scripts do not match start-up scripts. However, I now mainly use that machine remotely.

I'll go ahead and close this bug then, Michael. If it's still a problem, reopen it and we'll take a look at it again! Thanks
