Thanks for your bug report. Unforunately the backtrace is not really helpful. Do you remember what you were doing when it crashed? Is this reproducible?

My suspicion is that it crashes on shutting the machine down. Does it crash if you close gaim in the notification area?

Hi,

I confirm this behavior. When I login, gaim is crashing, but I'm not starting it nor manualy, nor automatically.....

This behavior happens only when I'm logging out (or studown) with gaim running. During the next login, gaim seems to crashes. This happens also with skype on my laptop.

I checked if the "automatically save session" is checked or not : it's not checked. I don't know then where could gaim be started !

This happens also when gaim is saved in my session. At login, gaim crashes and the saved copy is starting normally.

Olivier

This happened when I used Edgy and now, on Feisty. This happens with Evolution as well. Right now I don't have any -dbg packages, but I'll submit a crash report after installing them.

Same for me. I was using Gaim yesterday in KDE and suddenly I realized Gaim was not running any more. No error message has appeared.
Today, in a new session in Gnome, it told me to report the bug.

I couldn't reproduce the bug since installing the debug packages. I may have updated some libraries at the time (I'm on feisty, so there's quite a lot of changes), but nothing comes to my mind.

One real difference that comes to my mind is that I have clicked the "submit bug report" button in apport. Possibly the crash didn't repeat - it could be the same file being brought to my attention many times. Twen's comment seems to confirm that, but I can't come up with a way to confirm or deny the theory at the moment.

Twen, gmc, Aleksander, how do you know you are facing the same bug? The original report has no description and a backtrace with no useful information. It looks like you are all commenting on same bug about different issues, could you open a new bug if you are not sure you have the same problem as the one described rather?

Hi Sebsastien,

You are right, I don't know if this bug is really the one that occurs on gaim and skype. I just notice that I get in 40% of login, a crash report from either gaim or skype, from the systray bomb. I suggested that this bug maybe not specific to gaim.

Hi, Here is one of my report.

Gaim was running, I logged out. Restart X (Ctrl+Alt+Del), Login again, and get the crash notice.
Hope this helps.

yet another crash, could people stop sending random crash to bugs already open?

Oliver, do you make that on purpose? Can you read the comment on a bug before posting? Your crash has nothing to do with the bug you are posting on, you are making bug work harder for people triaging and there is comments already stating that people should stop sending crash files on random bugs when they don't know what they are doing

I just came here searching for the relevant bug after getting tired of the constant warnings that Gaim crashed (when in fact it doesn't crash during my use of it, and works fine for me), and it seems to me that my problem is indeed more like bug #67361. Sebastian, you are annoyed by people who misidentify their problem as belonging to this bug. To end the confusion, what about marking this as a duplicate of #67361? If it's marked as a duplicate it won't show up in the search, so there won't be anyone who makes the error to post their crash reports here. Besides that, you mentioned that the orginal description doesn't have enough useful information, this bug is a few months old already and the original reporter has not added any info since then. I'll just take the liberty to mark it as a dup, I hope that's ok with you?

Hmm, never mind, just see that it already is a duplicate of bug #67361. I wonder then why this one is still visible in the search results?

Thank you for your bug interest Sander. That bug is different from #67361, that's one of the random crash file people attached to it which was a duplicat. The bug is listed because it's open

Same thing here too... I told Gaim to start up automatically every time I log-in.... It does start with my buddy list minimized but generates a crash report non the less but still runs fine.

This is quite an old bug report, certainly because Gaim has now become Pidgin. AFAIK Pidgin no longer gives a crash report on login? Assuming this bug is in fact fixed and was forgotten to be marked as such, I'm taking the liberty to mark it as fixed.
