amaroK translations in Rosetta - plural forms are broken

Bug Description

In Kubuntu Edgy RC amaroK displays BROKEN TRANSLATION in the Czech language at some places because Rosetta refuses to accept a different number of plural forms other than 2 (in English). The Czech translation is therefore broken and the translators cannot do anything about it. This bug happens only in amaroK; other .po files and apps handle more plural forms fine.

If you know which important people should be informed, please subscribe them or change the Affects: package of this bug.

So other apps using rosetta deal with Czech plurals fine?

I've subscribed the rosetta admins but this may be a bug with rosetta itself (https://launchpad.net/products/rosetta/+bugs). I've looked and I can't see anything related to czech plurals in their bug list though.

There is a rosetta bug https://launchpad.net/products/rosetta/+bug/46982
"Rosetta does not accept correct KDE plural forms when there are more than 2" which is classed as critical. Is this the same issue?

It's not that serious. At least it can be fixed easily.

I decided to do a little bit of tracking and found out that this bug is caused by a missing plural forms definition in the current Czech amarok.po file. This is probably caused by an incorrect import from upstream (I'm not sure, though - this bug is fixed in upstream). Other files should be ok.

I include the fixed amarok.po file and a patch that fixes the current one in Rosetta. Since we're past langpack deadline, can somebody please rebuild this .mo file so that it will be fixed in Edgy? Thank you.

This is the patch. If you can, please apply this patch to the Rosetta .po file (or replace that one with the .po file I included) and rebuild this particular .po file. Thanks.

I'm closing this bug (on advice from J. Riddell). The fix will be distributed to the end users by the time of the next langpack update.

I have similar problem with Amarok, Akregator and adept-notifier in gutsy with Ukrainian translation.
Amarok is full of "BROKEN TRANSLATION Track played once", "BROKEN TRANSLATION Single" and so on

It was announced that rosetta now fully supports KDE translations https://help.launchpad.net/KDEPlurals:

Maybe the problem is that .po file wasn't exported as "KDE-style .po file"

There is some data which ended up in between the old, no-support-for-KDE behaviour and the new one: we'll need to migrate that data as well (it will also be fixed on it's own when a new PO template is imported, and then translations follow, but we might not want to wait for that).
