Bug Description

package information was last updated 7 days ago... (this is from update manager)
i realise the problem has something to do with the "linux-image-2.6.35-23-generic-pae" all the error seem to revolve around it
when i try to update in terminal i get this error

please install the linux-headers-2.6.35-23-generic package to fix this.
when i try to install it from synaptic the package is installed but i get this error

E: linux-image-2.6.35-23-generic: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
E: linux-image-2.6.35-23-generic-pae: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
E: linux-image-generic-pae: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

I have no idea what to do from here, ive tried going through the forums but the solution available for the update bug doesnt work for me. you help is much appreciated
Also in terminal it says something about dependency problems
