dapper to edgy update breaks sound

Bug Description

After uprading to Edgy, soudn on my machine is broken.

Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'alsa'; however, that package was not published in Ubuntu.

First, make sure the dist-upgrade to Edgy is complete. Second, erase ~/.asoundrc* . At this point, you should hear sound with ``aplay /usr/share/sounds/startup.wav''.

This is not a bug. I had been struggling with Bug #59946, and it seems that somewhere in the process I/g-s-t reset the list of groups I'm in. Hence I wasn't in the audio group which made the soundcard inacessible.

I'm pretty sure the reset of my groups was not caused by the dist-upgrade.
