Bug Description

I upgraded from ubuntu 6.06 to 6.10 without any problems. rdesktop worked fine on 6.06 but has problems on 6.10. When I scroll up fast (mostly with the slide bar) I get corruption on my screen. E.g. in Lotus Notes, where every mail use one line in the default view, I get a replication of the line (the same mail is repeated). Moving the mail with pgup-down fixes the view.

I compiled 1.5 and with this version I don't have any problems.

Settings:

/home/cra/bin/rdesktop -u $USER -p $PASS -n $NAME -k fr-be -g 1280x1024 -D -T $TITLE -N -a 16 -x l -B -r sound:local $REMOTE_MACHINE

Same issue here. Screen shot attached.

Seeing the same issue here using the KRDC frontend. I can also confirm that this problem was introduced in Edgy; I never saw it on Dapper. For me, however, the corruption occurs whenever I scroll up, regardless of the speed I scroll at.

I'm including another screenshot, because I'm not sure this is the same issue that Gilbert is having. I see artifacts only when scrolling up and the artifacts appear only inside the viewport being scrolled. Also scrolling left or right always works.

I'm pretty sure it's all related. I have similar defects when scrolling, and moving windows around leaves trails. Maximizing a window often clears it up temporarily, but continues to be a problem after most screen movement.

I have tested three machines, all have the same problem. One common factor in my tests though is that I am using nvidia drivers on them all. I'm curious to know if this is occurring on any other graphic cards or drivers.

The computer that has the problem I reported uses indeed Nvidia drivers. I use that computer at work. I don't have any windows machines around here at home to test with other computers.

I'm also using nVidia drivers.

I've since installed 1.5 and everything is working perfectly, including better stability than the Dapper package.

Just as an update, I have a new laptop *without* nvidia drivers, and the problem does not exist. I believe the nvidia driver is the common factor.

I can confirm the issue with using rdesktop 1.4.1 with Lotus Notes. I get the same display defect. I'm not sure how many other applications are affected by the bugs in rdesktop 1.4.1.

I installed rdesktop 1.5.0 locally and it fixed this issue. Any possibility the newer rdesktop could be packaged in an upcoming edgy update?

I also have this problem, however like in Parkers case I only experience it when scrolling up. In any other case it works perfectly. Has anyone tried to confirm this with the opensource nv drivers?

Upgrading to 1.5 also fixed this for me.
