Bug Description

Crash popup message: "Error notifying preference change listener. Check the log for details."

It Started: Once eclipse 3.2 was uploaded/installed.

Clean install produces the same crash.

Investigation revealed that eclipse-cdt is very dependent on the eclipse version.

Suggestion: Upload eclipse-cdt 3.1.1

Confirmed. Edgy is shipped with Eclipse 3.2 and CDT 3.0, while CDT 3.0 is _not_ compatible with Eclipse 3.2... How successful.

Double confirmed, i'm having the same trouble, same exact error/popup.

Googling reports that CDT 3.0.1 doesnt play nice with 3.2

Same problem here. Presumably, one can work around it for now by installing CDT via the Callisto Discovery Site: "Help / Software Updates / Find and install..." I haven't tested this yet, though.

I can confirm that installing through Callisto Discovery Site is a valid workaround.

Confirmed times seven. Bug still remains. Please do something!

Manual upgrade to current CDT v. 3.2.1 fixes the problem.

confirmed. the cdt crashes when loading and existing project. Eclipse will start with a 'clean' workspace. You can create new projects, but the next time eclipse start in the same workspace it will crash. The cdt version in the repositories just needs to be updated to the current version.

AFAICS eclipse-cdt version 3.1.1 is only available on feisty. I am not fully aware of policies in ubuntu distributions, but if possible, this should be included in edgy, where eclipse is version 3.2.1.
