Bug Description

I have discovered that I can not import when I dock my camera anymore. It worked on Dapper. I worked on discovering what the issues were. I ran the command:

gnome-volume-manager-gthumb %h

from the terminal and got what I expected: the import wizard from gthumb, but I also recieved the following in the terminal:

14539: arguments to dbus_message_new_method_call() were incorrect, assertion "_dbus_check_is_valid_path (path)" failed in file dbus-message.c line 797.
This is normally a bug in some application using the D-Bus library.
libhal.c 995 : Couldn't allocate D-BUS message
error: libhal_device_get_property_type: (null): (null)

Happens here too, with a Canon PowerShot A510. Manually launching the import wizard works. I'm not sure what would be the relevant log file here.

Happens here too, with a Canon PowerShot SD600. How does manually launching the import wizard happen? The way is to use the command gnome-volume-manager-gthumb %h right? But after i choose the right model i get "no images found" which is incorrect.

And i also get the following error sometimes: "An error occurred in the io-library ('Bad parameters'): Could not find USB device (vendor 0x4a9, product 0x311c). Make sure this device is connected to the computer."

I can import pics properly with dapper. These errors happened in edgy only.

When I plug the camera gThumb shows up the Camera Imports Photos window but with an error.
I tried different cables that work ok.

Please note that I also posted here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gthumb/+bug/24746.

If I run,
foo@bar $ gnome-volume-manager-gthumb %h
process 27688: arguments to dbus_message_new_method_call() were incorrect, assertion "_dbus_check_is_valid_path (path)" failed in file dbus-message.c line 1074.
This is normally a bug in some application using the D-Bus library.
libhal.c 939 : Couldn't allocate D-BUS message
error: libhal_device_get_property_type: (null): (null)
hal_get_property.c 178 : INFO: called LIBHAL_FREE_DBUS_ERROR but dbusError was not set.

Thank you

Is this reproducible in Gutsy?

Yes, reproducible on Gutsy. I have Gutsy and this WAS working, and no no longer is. The one thing I can think of was that I just pulled the USB cable (oops) and then got a message that I should have "ejected" the camera. The camera is working, and there are pictures on it, but it's telling me "no images found." I get the same d-bus type messages as above:

~$ gnome-volume-manager-gthumb %h
process 20003: arguments to dbus_message_new_method_call() were incorrect, assertion "_dbus_check_is_valid_path (path)" failed in file dbus-message.c line 1074.
