cant install ubuntu 6.10

Bug Description

installer wont run
Dell latitude c600
192mb ram
p3 700mhz.
just freezes

i have verified the cd, and all the checksums add up.

did you try the liveCD or the alternative installation cd? also, at what point does it freeze (i.e. what is the last thing the screen shows before the freeze)?

i used the liveCD (RC1), it is quite slow booting up. when i double click on install the cd spins fast for about 7min, then stops and the system is frozen, and i need to reboot. If i boot into safe graphics mode,it dose the same thing but it opens a window that is titled "installer"(or something like that) and then freezes.

Hello. 192MB is really quite low for an install from the Live CD. To find the point where it actually crashes we would need to see the log files. This page contains detailed information on uploading log files: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs (you will have to repeat the install attempt with the same Live CD to get them)

You may also want to try the alternate install disk or Xubuntu.
