dpkg-buildpackage fails to build .deb packages

Bug Description

When building my project (glchess.sourceforge.net) I get the following error after running dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot:
dpkg-deb: building package `glchess' in `../glchess_1.0RC1-1_all.deb'.
tar: -: file name read contains nul character

The build process completes but not .deb is created.

I am running Edgy Eft which has version 1.13.22ubuntu7 installed.

After a google it appears this bug has been found and solve in Debian dpkg-dev 1.13.23 (http://<email address hidden>/msg02570.html)

Tried again and the .deb is building fine. So it may be a bogus report that it wasn't building when I filed the report.
