Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.15-27-386

Direct rendering does not work with ATI Radeon 9550 and proprietary fglrx driver. The reason seems to be that Xorg version is 7.0.0 while kernel module supports versions 6.8.x

Versions of related packages:
xserver-xorg: 7.0.0.ubuntu45
xorg-driver-fglrx: 7.0.0-8.25.18+2.6.15.12-1
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.15-27-386: 2.6.15.12-1

Interesting bits from /var/log/Xorg.log:

Output of fglrxinfo:

This may or may not be related to bug 42459.

The problem seems to stay with different versions of ATI driver installed with the original installer.

BTW, has anybody even tried looking into this?

Fixed. The reason was a configuration error that led to quite misleading error messages.
