Bug Description

At some point, my dapper stopped booting. I've now decided to upgrade to edgy and the same thing happens on the live CD boot: It freezes on "Loading Hardware Drivers". I rebooted but removed "quiet splash" from the boot parameters and found that it hung with a huge amount of the same errors over the screen: "snd-emu10k1: Suspected sound card removal". Googling this brings up only the following page:

It seems this patch has stopped dapper and edgy kernel from correctly booting. My soundcard is an M-Audio Delta 1010 card. I am now unable to use Ubuntu at all. It just wont boot.

Do you still see this issue with 7.10 or Hardy?

Hi,

No 7.10 worked ok, at least from a fresh install. I have been meaning
to file another bug though related to multiple sound cards: Gnome
chooses at random which soundcard is the primary sound device. Oddly
enough, pidgin always gets it right.

Ok, closing as fixed!

The other issue might be already reported, search the open bugs.
