As you can see, this problem is also in kubuntu as well.
was told in the irc channel, that sk98lin driver is better, and sky2, has bugs..
well, it does have bugs, since downloading large files, 600 megs iso images,
it will stall out about a 1/3 of the way... even when going direct connect to the cable modem, and by-passing the linksys router, still it will hang and stall out, an I can't even ping the modem, can not get out until I do a reboot of the laptop. please fix this.

Hello! Thanks for the report; sorry it has taken some time to get to it.

I have unmarked this as a private bug so that more people than just the security team will see this bug. As far as I can see, this isn't a security issue, so I have opened it.

This bug has been reported before; for more information see the duplicate bug #68338.

As a possible work-around for your problem: many marvell network cards are also supported by another driver (sk98lin). To try using that one, just add a "blacklist sky2" entry to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist (without the quotation marks, of course) and reboot.
