Bug Description

As it stands, donations to Ubuntu are not tax deductible. I think Canonical needs to get nonprofit status as soon as possible, so that people thinking about giving a hefty donation will be more inclined to do so. I know this is strange to post this as a bug report, but I think it is pretty significant, sort of like bug #1. :)

Very true about donations not being tax deductible. But $25 - $100 donation in the US even if it was tax deductible doesn't help me out much towards the end of the year anyways ;(

I thouht there was some sort of NPO status with Canonical?

Canonical is a for-profit company. The ubuntu foundation is non-profit (though I have no idea what it's actual legal status is). This should be brought up at the community council (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CommunityCouncilAgenda) rather than being tracked as a bug.
