Developers don't get enough thanks

Bug Description

Ubuntu is awesome. Dapper is really stable, and Edgy is pushing the boundaries of what my hardware can do. I didn't pay a penny for Ubuntu, but it's totally replaced my old Operating System, and taught me to fall in love with free software.

While there is a brilliant community of really great and helpful people, we don't thank the developers enough... especially the devs that don't get paid (by devs I'm not just talking about programmers, I'm including - well everyone). The best I can do at the mo is submit bug reports and try to be active on the forums.

Sometimes there is negativity directed toward this project, for all sorts of reasons. And, while there are loads of people saying thanks and who appreciate what you all do. I think we could all say it again -> thanks for a really awesome distro, and thanks for your wider contributions to the Free Software cause!

Thank you for the nice comment! I'm marking the bug as fixed because that's not really a bug, the comment has been appreciated though ;)

I could not agree more. Marking it as "fixed" is okay, as long as we all apply regularly patches to it.
I think this bug report should get the bug # 2 ;-)

I can confirm this bug. It's been around for a while and hits me every now and then when running Ubuntu, no matter what version (I've tried breezy, dapper, edgy, feisty). I don't know if there will ever be a final fix released for this but I'm sure everyone is doing their best to get this fixed.

It only has 'Subscribe' because my group is subscribed, by I,
personally, am not.

You can't unsubscribe "part of a group"

Sorry isn't an excuse when you do something stupid on purpose.

I can confirm this major bug, even if it doesn't show on a daily basis, my ubuntu dark room sends me the same message again and again : "Don't forget to thanks everybody for their work".
This bug is to be found and repeated at everyboot and shutdown time. And during the login jingle, the ubuntu dance is performed on the screen to remember me to thank you.

I am going to unassign "Ubuntu members" from this bug, because all this spam^H^H^H^Hfriendly mail is getting a bit annoying. Individual Ubuntu members can re-subscribe to it if they want to. The URL for this is https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+bug/72212/+subscribe

Thank you,

To quote my friend:
"Every time I see the mouse pointer move across my screen in Ubuntu, it's because somewhere, someone wrote and debugged the code necessary to do that out of the sheer goodness of their heart. And that is amazing!"

My sentiments exactly. A BIG HUGE load of thanks to all the developers!
