Bug Description
Ubuntu Edgy does not ship a 1000 Hz system-timer kernel by default on desktop which is a problem for people doing multimedia, for instance to use programs like Rosegarden. Of course it is possible to recompile the kernel, but this is far not enough user friendly for the average artist.
There should be a way to easily get a 1000 Hz kernel, either in the default kernel, or in an extra package.
Thanks,
Steph

There are now -lowlatency kernel packages in feisty which have a 1000Hz timer, amongst other options.
