Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.19-7-generic

i'm running ubuntu feisty fawn on an older hdd, on which i can only use ext2. with kernel 2.6.19-7 (and before with -6 too), i can't get into the system (up to -5 it worked), whereas i'm booting without any problem with the 2.6.17 kernel. i'm getting into a shell (ash) with the message:
/bin/sh: can't access tty; job contol turned off
(initramfs)
if you could give me directions on the commands i would like to give you more informations.

Alert! /dev/hdb1 does not exist. Dropping to a shell!

(hdb1 is the correct drive)
