Error installing Firefox

Bug Description

After asking installation of Firefox I got an error on apt-get.
I think there is something wrong with the depencies of xserver-xorg-video-imstt

$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading package lists... Error!
E: Problem parsing dependency Conflicts
E: Error occurred while processing xserver-xorg-video-imstt (NewVersion1)
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/dpkg/status
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

$ dpkg -C
dpkg: parse error, in file `/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 7265 package `xserver-xorg-video-imstt':
 `Conflicts' field, invalid package name `xserver-xnrg-driver-imsttDescription:': character `' not allowed (only letters, digits and characters `-+._')

I renamed /var/lib/dpkg/status-old to /var/lib/dpkg/status and everything works, even when i reinstall xserver-xorg-video-imstt

It looks to me like you have some disk corruption or something. These symptoms are definitely not caused by broken package dependencies. Is your computer otherwise reliable ?

I keep having errors on IDE disk. I'm trying with a new SATA but It seems not supported with kernel. Right now I'm testing on Feisty.

With Ubuntu-Feisty now I can install with SATA without problems at all.

You can close this bug.
My IDE hard disk was giving me problems all the time. I bought a new one.
