I can confirm this problem. I am using a Ubuntu 11.04 system with kernel 2.6.39. I have to reinstall system because I accidentally removed some system directory in the evening.

I chosed 'Upgrade 11.04 to 11.04' on the screen, its fine. And I was surfing around with Firefox until met the same problem.

Here is my screen shot. At this time, when I found this defect record and finish my comment, it is still pending on.

BTW. I don't remember whether it has happened when I upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 last month.

I am noticing this too (currently writing this in a live 11.10 usb install environment, waiting for it to continue after a few hours), but it is clearly due to some sort of download activity. It's already downloaded a couple hundred megs, and still going. Seems like a really stupid process (downloading packages at the END of the install), and unclear, but I don't think it's a bug per se, just poorly communicated by the installer.

Same here, while upgrading from 10.10 to 11.10. There is a new bug that might need to be merged with this one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/874615

Bug #874615 actually is a duplicate, I think. (Next time I need to read comments . . . . Sorry.)

My experience is the same as that of @dennis-fiser—that this is a UI bug, not a bug in the installation process per se.

I got tired of waiting and tried disabled networking: This effectively stopped whatever ubiquity was doing and finished the upgrade process. The system rebooted properly after that, no issues so far.
