Bug Description

While I was upgrading from Edgy to Feisty, my screen turned half black, and half white. I don't know exactly which package was being installed, but the display problem didn't affect the upgrade.

It is still in this state or not ? Do you remember where the upgrader was in the upgrade process ?

Yes, it was in that state until I pressed CTRL+ALT+F1 and then back CTRL+ALT+F7. When I went back from tty1 to Gnome, I could see the upgrader, desktop, and some of the panel applets, but there were no menus, no time and no logout icon in top-right corner, just plain panels with some applets.
When that happened, the upgrader had just finished fetching packages and started installing some of them. I'm not sure which one caused the problem, because I wasn't looking at the monitor all the time. But it had finished python, some fonts, and started setting up the packages.

Is it persistent when the upgrade process is finished and after a restart ?

No, it was only there while upgrading.
