Bug Description

I seem to have uncovered a repeatable way to hang or crash (I've seen both) the kernel.

I have an edgy eft install on a 2-opteron x86_64. uname -a:

Linux tyan-spaceheater64 2.6.17-10-generic #2 SMP Tue Dec 5 21:16:35 UTC 2006 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I startup x11vnc. I connect to it. Soon, the machine will be utterly unresponsive. Sometimes it reboots, but usually it just sits there, mute. the VT key sequences don't work, so it's a lot worse than just X11 having gotten stuck. I have to reset it.

I have no idea how to extract better diagnosis out of this, but I'll entertain requests.

The baltix link is a complete error on my part, but I can't figure out how to remove it.

Thank you for doing your part to make Ubuntu better. Since this bug was
originally reported against Edgy Eft(6.10), I was wondering if this
can still be reproduced on a supported version of Ubuntu?

The answer is 'no'. When I reported this, it was against the current,
supported release. You composted it for a very long time, and now you
complain that it's against a stale release. I don't have time for
this, you can close it.

I want to clarify that I have no affiliation with Ubuntu outside that I'm just a person trying to go through old bugs and help clean them up.
