Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

I tried to install Xgl/compiz on an Nvidia video card
and I followed every step off this guide http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Edgy#How_to_install_Xgl.2FCompiz_.28Nvidia.29

but it's very possible that I did something wrong, I just don't now what!

Thank you for your bug report. As generic compiz as now been uploaded to Feisty (compiz-quinn is now known as beryl), we need to see if your bug is still present. If you can test the version of compiz in feisty (1:0.3.4) and tell us if you bug still exists, please do. Please make certain you are using Ubuntu's Xorg as well. We also require the make of your video card, to help debug driver issues. If you are using a newer ATI card (x1000 series or newer), please indicate so. To get this information, please attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log

There is a 0.3.3 in the backports. You can try that to see if the bug still exists. I expect 0.3.4 will be backported soonish.

that's the version I have (0.3.3), but now the problem is, when I type in the terminal:

thefuture

i get this message:

/usr/bin/thefuture: line 2: gnome-window-decorator: command not found

what does it mean, and what can I do to fix it???

- I'm trying to install Xgl/Compiz (Nvidia)

Thanks

Firstly, you should make sure you have the compiz-gnome package installed.

Secondly, gnome-window-decorator has been renamed to gtk-window-decorator. You may want to try that in your script.

As this bug is about following an unsupported guide to install XGL/Compiz-quinn and the reporter has not shown that the bug exists in a stock version of feisty I'm closing this bug.
