When you exit/turn off, do you mean from the logout menu in XFCE? Does this also happen in an installed system, or only on a live system?

1) Yes, in logout menu
2) Only in live system in persistent session, but I didn't try in installed system.

Sorry for the extended delay in response, but does this persist on the current development version? You can fetch a daily ISO image from cdimages.ubuntu.com.
