Upgrading mysql-server from 4.1 to 5.0 is broken

Bug Description
Binary package hint: mysql-server-5.0
I'm using ubuntu feisty, and did a dist-upgrade that included mysql-server that was upgraded from 4.1.x to 5.0.30.
After starting mysql gives this error:
