Bug Description

With ubuntu 11.10 totem can't disable screensaver, or may be dpms. This is regression for me, since previous version worked fine.
I guess gnome screensaver api was changed.

Yes, it is reproducable. But i still do not know what part is actually brocken. Now i see, that totem actually disable screensaver, but dpms is still active. I need to use: xset -dpms to watch some film.

This bug affects me also and it's easy to reproduce: just start some video in fullscreen mode and do not touch your mouse or keyboard, once screensaver timeout is reached your monitor will enter standby mode.
Please let us know if you need more information to fix this annoying bug.

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=580562 seems like it is relevant, though hasn't seem much activity and the developers seem to be saying it should be filed against gnome-screensaver instead of gnome-power-manager.

I have killed gnome-screensaver process and was able to reproduce this issue.

I don't know whether this is relevant, but "xset q" shows
DPMS (Energy Star):
  Standby: 600 Suspend: 600 Off: 600
  DPMS is Enabled
  Monitor is On

For any value in settings. Most likely something fails to adjust DPMS.

I don't think it's relevant to totem.

I am on Kubuntu 11.10 64bit, KDE 4.8.1
kubuntu-low-fat-settings installed.
All power saving and screen saver options disabled.

It's looks like something enabling PDMS, as even after disabling it by sh file with "xset -dpms", executed on every startup, it returned back after about 2 hours to enabled state.

I haven't seen this since upgrading to precise, so I am going to flip it over to Incomplete. If anyone is still running into this feel free to flip it back.
