the issue there is not a gnome-session one but fglrx being installed but not used and creating issues

It seems the issue might be caused by server side ICD which failed to load thus can not provide the correct version info to the client side ICD.
Could you help to post the /var/log/Xorg.0.log for us to understand the issue?
