Bug Description

Binary package hint: evms-gui

evmsgui crashes in the Make File System - Options dialog if you click yes for either "Check for Bad Blocks" or "Read/Write Check for Bad Blocks".

To Reproduce:
1. Create an EVMS volume and activate.
2. Right-click and choose Make File System.
3. Choose Ext2/Ext3 and click Next.
4. Click on either of the Bad Blocks choices. evmsgui closes and if you started it from a console window, you see this message:

(evmsgui:5233): Gtk-WARNING **: GtkEntry - did not receive focus-out-event. If you
connect a handler to this signal, it must return
FALSE so the entry gets the event as well

Gtk-ERROR **: file gtkentry.c: line 4965 (blink_cb): assertion failed: (GTK_WIDGET_HAS_FOCUS (entry))
aborting...

I'm seeing this in 6.06 LTS.

(Other details that may or may not matter. I saw this on a USB-attached disk, using the BBR segment manager and the DOS segment manager.)

I can see this bug as well, using an SCSI device, trying to make a JFS filesystem and selecting the bad blocks scan, or the case-insenstitive option will crash the evmsgui. It receives a SIGABRT

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for responding Alex. I should have looked to see if this package has been included in latest releases. I apologize for any extra work you had to do. It seems from some research that Debian has stopped supporting EVMS. Since packages.ubuntu.com is down right now I can't see exactly where Ubuntu ended support for this package, so for now this issue will stay open until we can further investigate it.

It was in Hardy. Perhaps this bug should be closed since it’s unlikely that evms will return.
