Bug Description

Platform: VirtualBox 4.0.12 r72916 on Ubuntu 10.04 2.6.38-11 generic
OS: [Kubuntu] oneiric-desktop-i386.iso (Beta 1 20110831)

Steps to reproduce:
1) Start machine with Live CD present
2) Select "Start Kubuntu"
3) Choose Swedish language
4) Select "Install Kubuntu"
5) Click "Forward" to get to the disk partition options
6) Select "Guided" and "Entire Disk"
7) Complete installation with default options
8) Wait for installation to complete
9) Open a terminal and enter "sudo sfdisk -l"

Expected Result:
- 3 partitions, 1 swap, 1 Linux and 1 extended

Actual Result
- 5 partitions, 1 swap, 1 Linux, 1 extended and 2 empty

Here is the result of my "sudo sfdisk -l" (Sorry it's in Swedish, but basically it lists sda3 and sda4 as empty ("Tom").

Disk /dev/sda: 1958 cylindrar, 255 huvuden, 63 sektorer/spår
Varning: utökad partition börjar inte på jämn cylindergräns.
DOS och Linux kommer att tolka innehållet annorlunda.

I was unable to recreate this using an Oneiric amd64 desktop CD from today - 2011-10-03.

I know its a hassle but could you possibly try testing this again with a later CD image?

No worries. I tried with the image http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily-live/current/oneiric-desktop-i386.iso synchronized with zsync Tue Oct 4 20:40:01 CST 2011

To be sure, I also create a completely new disk for this test. Interestingly, the installer crashed when it was almost done, but I have not had any opportunity to investigate that further. However, I figured the disks had already been partitioned, so I started a live session and ran sfdisk. The result is listed below (Note I installed on /dev/sdb, the second drive):

I also attach the definition file for the virtual machine, in case it helps.

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo sfdisk -l

I also just tried with the 64bit version that I downloaded Monday. This time the installation completed with no problems, but the partitions are still the same (I again created a completely new /dev/sdb/ that I used for installation)
