From the debug log file we see:

** (process:4407): WARNING **: Command line `dbus-launch --autolaunch=9e358b648f2aabb01558297702831683 --binary-syntax --close-stderr' exited with non-zero exit status 1: Autolaunch error: X11 initialization failed.\n

(ubiquity:2857): Gdk-WARNING **: The application 'ubiquity' lost its connection to the display :0;
most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed
the application.

I believe I've just reproduced the same error with the 20111012 iso. I was testing on virtualbox 4.1.4 64 bits. too.

One other thing that seemed a little weird during the installation was the fact that the installer started downloading updates and language packs, even though I hadn't checked the two check boxes on one of the first screens. Is this a feature (which I don't quite understand) or a bug?
