This patch was accepted upstream as 2938243e251dc10b22fecc4fd50c675f9c2ca1c4 on master, which is included in the git snapshot of network-manager currently in precise, so I'll close the precise bugtask and open one for oneiric, where this bug still occurs.

I have this problem. How do I apply this patch? Do I open 'src/settings/plugins/keyfile/writer.c.orig' and paste the patch in.

You'll need to get the source code ("apt-get source network-manager") and apply the patch using "patch -p0 < network-manager-8021x-config-writer.patch". Then rebuild the package using debuild.
