Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

When running peksystray in WindowMaker gnome-power-manager doen't show an icon, even when it set to always show.
nm-applet, gaim, rhythmbox and vmwares icons all work, so I believe this problem is with g-p-m and not with peksystray.

Peksystray is not currently available in ubuntu but can easily be compiled from source. It's available from http://peksystray.sf.net

Log from when running gnome-power-manager --no-daemon --verbose. Doesn't tell me anything interresting, but it might be usefull.

Forgot to mention that this is gnome-power-manager 2.17.92-0ubuntu1 in feasty.

g-p-m just uses GtkStatusIcon. Do other GtkStatusIcon applications work correctly?

Hi. It's not a g-p-m fault. Maybe a gtkStatusIcon issue. Anyway, i've forwarded it to upstream authors, let's see what they think about it.

Lack informations to say it's a GTK bug. Where are display notification area icon under window maker? Is the xchat-gnome icon displayed correctly? Could you make a screenshot?

Here is a screenshot with nm-applet, xchat-gnome, rhythmbox & gnome-power-manager running.

As you can see only the gnome-power-icon is missing.

Do you have the icon listed by the normal notification area?

If by normal you mean the gnome-panel one, then yes, it works.

looks like a bug of the application you are using then, closing, not a GTK bug

Sebastien, from cited apps (nm-applet, xchat-gnome, rhythmbox & gnome-power-manager) only g-p-m uses GtkStatusIcon. The others still use eggtrayicon widget. That's why i think the bug is in GtkStatusIcon component.

This component has some regression from eggtrayicon (see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409435). Maybe this bug is another one.

the icon works correctly in the GNOME notification area, why do you think it's a GTK bug?
