Bug Description

checkbox 0.13.4~ppa0.12.04 and checkbox-certification 0.13.1~ppa20.12.04 on Precise Beta amd64.

'Test' button is active, but it's not mentioned in the test description. If it's sufficient to run this test without running the optional_read script, please remove the command so Test button is not active.

plugin: manual
name: optical/read
requires:
 device.category == 'CDROM'
user: root
command: optical_read_test /dev/cdrom
_description:
 PURPOSE:
This test will check your optical devices ability to read CD media
 STEPS:
     1. Insert appropriate non-blank media into your optical drive(s). Movie and Audio Disks may not work. Self-created data disks have the greatest chance of working.
     2. If a file browser does not open automatically, open the file browser and access the disk.
     3. Attempt to open a text file on the disk, or copy a file from the disk to your home directory.
 VERIFICATION:
Were you able to view files on the disk and either open a file to read or copy a file to your home directory?

I think the test description needs to be updated rather than the command. I'll check with Jeff, who wrote this.

I agree... the description needs to be changed to be less confusing.

Samantha: the test itself actually copies files from the media you
insert then compares the local copy to the CD/DVD copy to verify that
data can successfully be read/copied from optcial media. IMO, that's a
better test than "Open a OO doc and tell me it looks good"

Changed the heading to be more correct... this is a matter of job descriptions. While fixing this one, I noticed that there are other jobs in optical.txt that need to be updated to avoid the same sorts of confusion. So I'll address all of them in the branch that addresses Samantha's concerns.
