Bug Description

FInally in 12.04 the made an option to malke the luncher icons smaler to 32x32, but the desktop is more wide than high., So why are the luncher icons bigger than the icons in gnome or KDE, where they using the width and not height of the desktop.
Does the Unity developers have that bad eyes that they need that big icons?
15x15 would be enough!
I always have to scroll up and down to navigate to the starter I need. That|s very anoying.
And I read ablreay a lot ofr postings that people like to have smaler icons. But Ubuntu limit it to 32x32. Why that limitation again?

Looks for me just to find a way to make Unity life more hard and complicated...

I think, that is a very big bug what should be fixed soon and not in years

Hello, I'm also in this mind I have the fix link with:

Firefox
Chromium
thunderbird
Nautilus
Skype (did not work in notification bar)
3 Work Programmes
Filezilla
Xpad
Empathy (don't start only in notification bar)
Eclipse
Virtualbox
Vinagre

So that is my fix task bar, after that I have only place for 3 New Programs without scroll!

I have to agree. Not everyone in the world has the funds to replace their 4x3 aspect ratio monitors with a new widescreen flat panel. On my old but still beefy AMD Athlon64x2 (dual core @ 2.6GHz), the launcher takes a lot of effort to come out of hiding. So, unless the launcher unhide action is made instant, or to actually work without smashing the mouse pointer against the side of the screen several times before it wakes, smaller icons would be so much better.

Definitely, minimum icon size 32x32 in Unity 3D is too large for many screens, it seems tuned for visually impaired people.
Nothing against half-blind people, of course.
However I can still see well, fortunately, even if I am quite old now.

How can one dismiss the problem by saying that this is just an opinion?
The right answer would be: "I'll just try to patch it".
Or: "This is an intrinsic limitation, there's nothing we can do for now".
At least, it would have been an honest answer.
Are you not MS yet, arent't you?
