Bug Description

id3lib3.8.3-6 fixed the UTF-16 corruption bug that breaks EasyTag and other tag editing tools.

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=384335 is the upstream bug which is actually Debian adopting a patch from our bug #54136.

There is a procedure (SRU) for getting fixes into stable versions but I don't think it is finalised for universe yet.

While I agree that in a perfect world this should go through an SRU and be uploaded to universe-updates or such; this was initially a backport request. (Forgot to include the backports team in the discussion when creating the bug, sorry).
