I can just say what's useful for us who actually use launchpad, I don't care what a usability designer with funny-looking glasses makes up :)
Many web sites/CMS provide a "permanent link" for this purpose, since the displayed URL is cluttered with internal web/db server stuff.

Launchpad itself expands "bug XXX" to https:/ /bugs.edge. launchpad. net/bugs/ XXX for me. I understand the ".edge." part, but why the "bugs." ?
