Thanks for your report. This is a rather unfortunate oversight on our part.

As a workaround for now, you may consider grabbing the description from the +edit page.

Modules like mechanize (driving a browser from Python) and BeautifulSoup (screenscraping made easy) can make this easier to do, in lieu of a proper xmlrpc interface.
