Comment 23 for bug 307645

I had resolved the problem in Ubuntu (both Karmic and Lynx) by uninstalling compiz and its libraries, while in Mint-Helena the same can be was fixed by disabling the visual effects. I have tried but have not been able to isolate which library/plug-in of compiz is causing the problem. The problem is generally found in desktops and laptops with inadequate GPs.
The acpi solution had failed to work on both my desktops. My laptop handles all the above mentioned releases very well without any tweaking.
