mtstat is a replacement for programs like iostat and vmstat. It provides the capabilities of all of these packages, and adds color highlighting and rolling up of numbers into human readable units. mtstat is a fork of dstat by Dag Wieers which breaks compatibility with older python versions. mtstat uses a plugin system based on setuptools and pkg_resources, to allow for plugins to be independently developed and distributed.
