For reference, the warning mentioned in 4. is "It looks like your current browser doesn't support HTML5 audio and/or mp3 playback. If you have flash, you can use the full version of Grooveshark, or you can upgrade to a browser that supports HTML5 audio and MP3 playback."

The issue is that oxideqt-codecs is installed, instead of oxideqt-codecs-extra (the two packages are mutually exclusive). This is not a problem in oxide itself, but rather in the seed. And specifically, the culprit seems to be http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/ubuntu-seeds/ubuntu-touch.vivid/revision/265.
