I'm totally a noob when it comes to this but I tried and tried as I might to compile a package from source but I failed to. So I reverted to recompiling an existing package. Which lead me to having to change the dependency in the control file from 'mono-common' to 'mono-2.0-devel'. This was do to the reply I got from running '~$ sudo apt-get install mono-common', the reply mentioned that package being gone now but make reference to mono-2.0-devel. After that and a fresh compile I was able to successfully install and run gnomeartng (idea: the name 'gang' (Gnome Art Next Gen) seems a bit more catchy).
Most of it works except the splash screen and login themes (which I think I'll file seperate bug reports for).
On that note, I'll attach the deb package I used to get it installed on my system.
I managed to recompile gnomeartng- 0.7.0.deb and get it to properly install into Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Beta.
I first tried to install with gnomeartng- 0.7.0.deb downloaded from here: developer. berlios. de/project/ showfiles. php?group_ id=9184& release_ id=16491
http://
That left me without success because of dependency issues to start with then after it was installed, gnomeartng wouldn't run.
