I have the same issue with the following USB devices:

"Logitech Webcam C925e"
"Plantronics .Audio 628 USB"
"ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen2 USB Au"
I confirm that the workaround still works except of "Plantronics .Audio 628 USB". Noting I have created /etc/asound.conf file with the following content to get rid of the misleading "Digital Output (S/PDIF)" devices:
