I also find it very frustrating that this hasn't been fixed yet.

I installed Ubuntu 10.04 to Acer Travelmate 4670 and it has exactly the same problem with wireless network.
After I installed #35 wpasupplicant, libpcsclite1and libssl0.9.8 wireless connection works without problems.

It is hard to recommend Ubuntu for laptop usage, if there is this kind of problems which seem to be relatively easy to fix but are not.
