The Ubuntu Changelog seems to suggest that all that may be necessary is a simple recompilation of the current source. If that does not fix the issue, I can happily attest that the mentors.debian.net source compiled for maverick should not have this issue: https://launchpad.net/~r0lf/+archive/ppa/+files/libsocksd0_1.2.1%2Bdfsg-1_i386.deb Handing over to the release team.
