A provactive reply to a provocative reply: in case you are short of ideas on how to create difficulties to the user who uses the programs he has always used, have you considered withdrawing support for ipv4?

How do you define a "broken program"? Do you consider that Ubuntu should only be used by those who have the knowledge (a) to recognise this kind of problem without spending hours and (b) to fix them?

This discussion creates more harm than the original (bash / dash) problem: it discredits the image of a nice distribution by creating the impression that the distribution does not care about the level of service perceived by the non-specialist user.
