I have traced back as far as I can, and find dhcdbd is an **optional** package. I also find that the only thing that depends on it is network manager (so we are back to the circle of who owns the bug, I guess). Having lost the overnight connection after I fell asleep, costing about 7 hours of productive work, I decided the use the package manager to uninstall dhcdbd -- taking with it the network manager and installing wifi-radar as a substitute. I am not cray about this app, but it works (so far) without random disconnects or generating errors. Another alternative I have not tried is wicd.

If you need the connectivity, and cannot wait for a proper fix, you might try the approach of "don't try to overcome problems, avoid problems." Good luck to all. You can contact me via pm in the ubuntu forums.
