Hi, this is the most popular input method in Traditional Chinese community, far more popular than Ubuntu's default - ibus-chewing.
Gcin was once removed from Debian because there wasn't anyone have enough time and knowledge to maintain it, and thus users rely on third-party repositories. I believe it's not a good thing to make such an important piece of software missing from an LTS release, so here I am requesting its inclusion to Precise once it gets into Sid.
The software is actively maintained upstream, and has a new Debian maintainer, the package itself is also under the umbrella of IME Packaging Team, who can support it until the quality meets for a Debian stable release. I see no problem from accepting it before Feature Freeze, to make sure it doesn't miss an important LTS.
