I'm having the same problem. After logging into xfce I receive a warning dialog window. I believe this problem is from an upgrade of the xserver-xorg-core package which happened this morning.

uname -a: Linux charding-laptop 2.6.24-18-generic #1 SMP Wed May 28 20:27:26 UTC 2008 i686

After logging into xfce I get the same warning dialog popup. Once I click OK I get automatically logged out of my session and back to the login prompt.

The package manager upgraded my xserver-xorg-core package this morning before I shutdown and rebooted.

Using xubuntu 8.04. Logging into gnome works fine btw.
